Should I do a headshot or branding session?

With today’s fast moving digital culture combined with living in Los Angeles, getting branding and headshot photography done is a necessity. Lots of self-made entrepreneurs, actors, and even corporations that are based out of Los Angeles need monthly, quarterly, or annual updates to their content to keep it fresh for various reasons including social media. It can be daunting trying to figure out what you actually need for your business and your professional appeal online.

Let’s start with the basics…Headshots.

At minimum, everyone, whether self-employed or not, needs a professional headshot and it should be updated annually. Sites like LinkedIn are where most companies go to scout out candidates, and when you’re actively looking for work, it’s a great starting point. Buttoning up your LinkedIn profile with a professional headshot and a well-written profile lets employers know you’re an excellent candidate for the position they’re hiring for. If you are an entrepreneur, artist, actor, contract-worker, or just self-employed, having a professional headshot across all of your socials really solidifies your brand, whether that be your company or yourself. Your headshot should compliment what you do for a living. For example, actor headshots are very specific with cropping, lighting, and intention, whereas a realtor may have a wider shot of their body on a completely different background. We recommend that you find at least 3-5 headshots you’re happy with at your session so you can rotate these throughout the year or just to simply keep your look fresh across all of your accounts.

What if I need more? That’s what Branding is for!

While headshots are great for social media profiles, the film industry, and the website for your company, you may need more because of what type of work you do or business you own. With more and more people becoming entrepreneurs and hustling to grow their brand, the best way to have a consistent branding message is to have a fair amount of professional photos for your websites, socials, business materials, and vendor events. Humans are very visual and they want to SEE what you do and connect with you as a brand.

So what is branding? Branding DOES include plenty of those traditional headshots you need, in fact we’d love for you to have a couple different outfits so we can get several different headshots for you to rotate through. But most importantly, branding features…well…YOUR brand! We will work with you on-location to capture the essence of your brand; you with your products, you with employees, or the gorgeous office you’ve setup to sell your product. We want to showcase a lot of “behind-the-scenes” images for your social profiles, as well as some polished posed shots. You are your brand, so if the vibe of your brand aligns with an urban aesthetic, then we’re going to go walk some streets downtown and get some images of you and your product in the perfect realm. Do you have a consulting business? Great! Let’s set up your branding session with some clients so we can capture your interactions with them in your office, and the results you provide.
