A Glimpse: Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden Wedding - Pasadena, CA

Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden is the perfect place for wedding photography! Picture this: it's early morning, the sun is just starting to peek through the trees, and you step into this serene oasis that feels like a whole other world.

With lush greenery, and the gentle trickle of water from the pond, it is positively one of the best wedding venues in the Pasadena area. It easily makes you feel like you've stepped into a scene from a fairytale. This is exactly why Danny and Linda decided to exchange their vows there in a stunning early morning ceremony in the garden.

With full access to the grounds, our team was able to utilize all of the most stunning backdrops for formal portraits and details. Their wedding was in the morning, so the fresh golden sunlight through the greenery was everything a wedding photographer’s dreams are made of.

Linda began her day at sunrise surrounded by friends and family at a small and adorable AirBnB in Pasadena. There was a quiet stillness that morning; it felt almost as if the world felt hushed and serene, holding its breath in anticipation of the day ahead. She was able take a moment to savor the peacefulness, to soak in the calm before the whirlwind of the day began. There's something truly special about starting your wedding day in this tranquil atmosphere, with the promise of love and joy lingering in the air.

Right as the sun began to peak over horizon, Linda stepped into the Japanese garden arm-in-arm with her dad, and there, waiting for her at the Niko-an teahouse, was Danny. The teahouse, with its rich history and intricate design, is named Niko-an, meaning Abode at Two Ponds. According to the Storrier Stearns website, the original teahouse was built in Japan, then disassembled and shipped to Los Angeles for reassembly in the garden.

After their ceremony it was time for formal portraits and details, which is probably our favorite part of the an entire wedding. Especially in a setting like an authentic Japaense Garden, and full access to the grounds, it allowed us to get some of the stunning foliage with Linda and Danny the center of attention.

Danny and Linda decided on an unforgettable and beautiful small brunch reception at The Raymond in Pasadena. A small band setup and played out on the patio in the reception area. Linda’s family has connections to the infamous W.G. Snuffy Walden, a composer and writer for a lot of famous scores in television like The West Wing and Friday Night Lights. W.G. Snuffy was happy to play with a band at their reception, which was perfect for the intimate outdoor patio settings.

From the brunch menu to the cake and all of the stunning floral arrangements, Danny and Linda’s reception was a perfect, quaint, and beautiful event.
